The Tech Companies

“High-tech” and “old” are two terms that somehow don’t belong together. But it turns out that there are true “oldies” among the technological giants. They managed to survive the hurdles of the times and defied numerous crises and recessions. We would like to briefly present the tech companies that can look back on such a long history of success.

Tech companies, the vanguards of innovation and disruption, stand at the forefront of driving societal and technological change. From industry giants pioneering groundbreaking advancements to agile startups challenging traditional norms, these companies shape the digital landscape, revolutionizing how we live, work, and interact.

Fueled by a relentless pursuit of innovation, tech companies spearhead the development and implementation of cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and quantum computing, catalyzing transformative shifts across sectors. Their impact extends beyond technological advancements, influencing economies, job markets, and global connectivity, making them key drivers of progress in our increasingly interconnected world.

AT&T – long before smartphones existed

The original name of this company was “American Telephone and Telegraph Company”. The company was founded in the distant 1885 and is known for having created the first telephone network in the United States. It was so long ago that some visionary entrepreneurs had the idea that communication could play such a big role in human life.

And that was long before there was Facebook or Google. Incidentally, we also have this company to thank for the tech companies first deep-sea cable that crossed the Atlantic. Thus, in 1950, the foundation stone was laid for the worldwide data network.

And speaking of networks and data traffic, then you come to another company that has left deep traces in the technological development of the tech companies mankind. Of course, this is a company that we intuitively equate with computers.

In 1911 nobody thought that computers would revolutionize our world. And yet even then people obviously thought about automating the calculations. This is how a company was founded, which initially had the somewhat strange-sounding name “Computing – Tabulating – Recording Company”. The tech companies did not get their present, world-renowned name until 1924 when it was renamed “International Business Machines”.

Since then, IBM has literally made history when it comes to computing technology. We owe the company the floppy disk in its original form and the first personal computer, which appeared on the market in 1981 the tech companies But as the name of the group already suggests, IBM is also a company dedicated to the economical the tech companies use of computing power. IBM has also left its mark in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and supercomputing technology.

Computer power and telephone: when the fields of our first two tech companies come under one roof, then one witnesses the next technological development that has largely shaped our lives today. Guess what – we’re talking about the mobile phone here.

Nokia – a company that dared to change

The tech companies it may sound unbelievable, but the Nokia company began its history in 1865 with a paper mill. Later, the high-tech company of our time produced rubber boots and tires. It wasn’t until 1967 that Nokia caught the spirit of the times and made the leap to become one of the most important companies in the field of telecommunications.

Incidentally, the smartphones that carry the Nokia brand today are not produced by the original company, but by the mobile phone division of Microsoft. The acquisition took place in 2014, but Nokia will always remain a symbol of mobile communication.

And since the technological foundations already exist, this is also noticeable in the entertainment industry. Our next “old man” of high-tech companies is talking about the colorful world of casino games.

Siemens – started in 1847
